Everest Climbing Route Opened for Spring Expedition Season
Kathmandu, May 15: The climbing route to Mount Everest has been officially opened for this year’s spring expedition season after ropes were fixed from the Everest Base Camp to the summit.
According to the Department of Tourism, the route to the world’s highest peak was completed and opened at 10:25 am on May 13. The department thanked the guides and icefall doctors involved in the operation.
The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation had assigned the Everest Pollution Control Committee and the Expedition Operators Association the responsibility of managing and fixing climbing routes on Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse on December 17, 2025.
The department stated that eight icefall doctors and 11 climbing guides were involved in fixing the ropes from Camp II to the summit.
With the route now opened, climbers preparing for Everest expeditions are expected to begin summit attempts during the ongoing spring climbing season.
