Mustang, May 7: Two Indian trekkers who were stranded due to heavy snowfall while trekking to Mustang were safely rescued on May 6 by a joint team of the Nepal Army and Nepal Police.
The trekkers were travelling towards Mustang from Manang when heavy snowfall hit the Muktinath and Thorong La Pass areas on Wednesday.
The rescued trekkers have been identified as Phanik Tony, 29, and Mitra Bindu, 30, from Kerala, India. They became stranded at Chisapani in Baragung Muktichhetra-2 after losing track of the trail amid the snowfall.
According to authorities, trekker Mitra Bindu informed the District Police Office, Mustang, about their situation. Following the alert, a joint rescue team safely evacuated the trekkers from Drum Camp, located in the lower region of Thorong Pass, said Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Dhoj Khand of the Indra Box Battalion.
