Govt Proposes ‘Domestic Tourism Leave’ for Civil Servants

Kathmandu, April 28: The government is preparing to introduce a new category of leave: ‘domestic tourism leave’ for civil servants under the draft Federal Civil Service Bill made public recently.
The draft proposes nine types of leave, including incidental and festival leave, home leave, sick leave, maternity leave, maternity care leave, funeral leave, domestic tourism leave, study leave, and special leave.
It also includes a provision allowing employees to take unpaid leave for up to five years, offering greater flexibility for long-term personal or professional plans.
According to the government, the new provisions are aimed at improving employee welfare and promoting work-life balance. The proposed domestic tourism leave is also expected to encourage travel within the country and contribute to boosting local economic activity.
