Tourism Minister Poudel Holds Meeting with UN Representatives
Kathmandu, April 30: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadak Raj Poudel held a courtesy meeting with senior representatives of the United Nations in Kathmandu on April 28.
The meeting was attended by United Nations Resident Representative to Nepal Lila Pieters Yahia, UNESCO Representative Jacodu Toit and UNDP Representative Kyoko Yakosuka.
During the meeting, the UN representatives congratulated the newly formed government and wished Minister Poudel a successful tenure. They also reaffirmed the United Nations’ continued support for Nepal’s development priorities.
Minister Poudel thanked the UN agencies for supporting various development programmes in Nepal and stressed the importance of continued cooperation.
The meeting also discussed the impacts of climate change in Nepal, especially in the Himalayan region. Minister Poudel highlighted the need for international cooperation to protect mountain ecosystems and promote sustainable tourism.
He also stressed the importance of preserving and promoting Nepal’s indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage at the international level.
Both sides expressed confidence that cooperation between Nepal and the United Nations would continue to strengthen in the coming years.
