Parsa National Park Forms Wildlife Rescue Team
Kathmandu, May 13: Parsa National Park has formed a dedicated Wildlife Rescue Team to provide timely rescue and treatment to injured wild animals.
The emergency rescue team has been in operation since mid-April. With the formation of the team, the park no longer has to depend on neighbouring Chitwan National Park for wildlife rescue support.
Information Officer of Parsa National Park Santosh Kumar Bhagat said the team has made it easier to reduce risks and provide immediate treatment to injured animals within the park area.
The rescue team includes veterinarians, technicians and drivers. According to Bhagat, the team also provides rescue and emergency services in Parsa, Rautahat and Makawanpur districts when required.
Till mid-April of the current fiscal year, the park had provided emergency rescue and protection services to one tiger, six spotted deer and around 100 cobras.
Similarly, the park treated and released 25 king cobras, 15 pythons, one pangolin and three other wild animals back into their natural habitats.
