Government to Step Up Diplomatic Efforts to Attract International Airlines
Kathmandu, May 13: The government has announced plans to intensify diplomatic efforts to attract more international air service providers to Gautam Buddha International Airport and Pokhara International Airport.
Presenting the government’s policies and programmes at a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on Monday, President Ramchandra Paudel said Nepal would work towards expanding reliable and competitive air services by strengthening aviation infrastructure, fully operating international airports and modernising airport facilities.
According to the government’s policy document, structural reforms will also be introduced in the civil aviation sector. The government said private sector participation would be expanded and international aviation safety standards would be implemented.
The government further announced that tourist visa services would be fully integrated into an online system. It also stated that e-gate systems would be installed at international airports to reduce passenger waiting times.
