The “Nepal Destination Wedding & OTAs Connect” program was jointly organized by the Nepal Tourism Board, the Hotel Association of Nepal, and the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi on April 28–29.
The event brought together tourism entrepreneurs, hotel representatives, and wedding planners from Nepal and India to promote Nepal as an attractive destination for weddings. According to NTB Senior Officer Robin Regmi, 21 Nepali companies and 45 Indian wedding planners participated in the programme.
Nepali delegates showcased hotels, resorts, and services designed for destination weddings. Business-to-business meetings, networking sessions, and presentations were also held during the two-day event.
Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Raj Joshi, said wedding tourism has strong potential for Nepal due to its natural beauty, cultural heritage, and hospitality. He said the sector could help attract high-value tourists and contribute to the national economy.
Hotel Association of Nepal President Vinayak Shah said stronger cooperation between Nepal and India would help expand wedding tourism. Similarly, Indian Wedding Planner Association President Niraj Dhawan noted that destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular among Indian couples, creating opportunities for Nepal.
According to NTB data, Nepal welcomed 1.15 million international tourists in 2025, with Indian visitors accounting for over 292,000 arrivals, or 25.2 percent of the total. Officials believe promoting wedding tourism in India could help attract high-spending visitors and support year-round tourism activity in Nepal.
