Nepal Receives Over 107,000 Tourists in April
Kathmandu, May 5: More than 107,000 foreign tourists visited Nepal in April 2026, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. A total of 107,934 international visitors entered the country during the month.
Data shows the highest number of tourists arrived from the SAARC region, with 33,432 visitors, accounting for around 31 percent of total arrivals. This was followed by 26,726 tourists from other Asian countries, 21,988 from Europe, 5,898 from Oceania, 2,518 from the Americas, 1,697 from West Asia, 315 from Africa and 15,360 from other regions.
Country-wise, India remains the largest source market, followed by China. Tourist arrivals from other Asian countries, Europe and the Americas are also gradually increasing, indicating Nepal’s shift towards a more diversified tourism market.
Among individual countries, 15,196 tourists arrived from Saudi Arabia, 11,722 from China and 5,231 from Bangladesh.
However, overall arrivals in April 2026 remain slightly lower compared to 116,490 tourists recorded in April 2025, though close to the pre-pandemic figure of 109,399 visitors in April 2019.
Tourism stakeholders say recent tensions in West Asia have disrupted air connectivity and affected international tourism promotion. They stress the need for stronger digital marketing and strategic initiatives to position Nepal as a safe and attractive destination for global travellers.
