Nepal Launches First Safari Tourism Mart To Boost Wildlife Tourism
Chitwan, April 26: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has launched its first-ever Safari Tourism Mart in Meghauli, aiming to promote Nepal as a leading destination for sustainable wildlife tourism.
The Wild Nepal Safari Mart 2026 has brought together more than 30 international delegates from countries including India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Turkey, and Germany. Representatives from key conservation areas such as Chitwan National Park, Shuklaphanta National Park, and Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve are also participating.
Speaking at the opening, Mukunda Prasad Niraula said the event would help take Nepal’s wildlife tourism to the global stage. “Nepal is known not only for its Himalayas but also for its rich biodiversity,” he said. “This platform will create new opportunities for partnership, investment, and promotion.”
CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board, Deepak Raj Joshi, described the Mart as a milestone. “Today is not just about promoting destinations, but celebrating a vision where tourism and conservation go together,” he said. “Responsible tourism means protecting nature and supporting communities.”
Vice Chairperson Ram Prasad Sapkota said the event connects global buyers with local experiences. “We hope international delegates will become ambassadors of Nepal’s tourism worldwide,” he added.
Acting Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Chitrasen Adhikari, said the region is ready to emerge as a global wildlife tourism hub.
Conservationist Mohit Agrawal highlighted the growing demand for responsible travel. “Nepal stands out as one of the best destinations where nature and communities thrive together,” he said.
According to Surya Thapaliya, the Mart aims to build long-term partnerships and position Nepal as a year-round wildlife tourism destination.
The event also includes expert presentations, business meetings, and cultural performances, showcasing Nepal’s biodiversity and indigenous heritage.
