Pokhara, Bharatpur, Lumbini Launch ‘Silver Triangle’ Tourism Partnership
Kaski, June 10: A tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed among Pokhara Metropolitan City, Bharatpur Metropolitan City and Lumbini Cultural Municipality to jointly promote tourism under the concept of the “Silver Triangle”.
The agreement was signed at a program in Pokhara on Tuesday by Pokhara Mayor Dhanraj Acharya, Bharatpur Metropolitan City Acting Mayor Chitrasen Adhikari and Lumbini Cultural Municipality Acting Mayor Kalpana Harijan.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable tourism development, preserve and promote cultural heritage, and collectively market the three destinations at national and international levels.
Under the agreement, the three local governments will collaborate on tourism branding, development of integrated tourism packages, organization of annual travel marts and expansion of inter-provincial tourism connectivity.
The MoU also envisions the development of a tourism package linking Pokhara, known as Nepal’s tourism capital, Bharatpur, a centre of religious and cultural significance, and Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha.
According to the agreement, the Silver Triangle Tourism Fair (Travel Mart) will be organized on a rotational basis. The parties will also hold business-to-business (B2B) and government-to-government (G2G) meetings as needed and conduct joint tourism promotion and market expansion campaigns.
The three local governments have agreed to incorporate the promotion and development of the Silver Triangle into their annual policies, programmes and budgets. Leadership of the initiative will rotate among the three municipalities each year.
The agreement also includes the production and distribution of joint brochures, videos and digital promotional materials, as well as the installation of digital information boards showcasing major tourist attractions in the partner destinations.
